The Table

Butterfield, and the cellar below it

In the restored carriage barn, a kitchen that cooks the valley — what the farms cut that morning, over a wood hearth. Below, in the 1789 fieldstone cellar, a bar of estate cider, Hudson rye, and forty allotments of valley wine.

The Restaurant

Butterfield

In the restored carriage barn, a farm-driven kitchen that cooks the valley — what the farms cut that morning, over a wood hearth.

Chef Lena Park leads a small brigade and a four-course seasonal menu that changes with the fields. Most everything comes from within thirty miles: Hudson Valley duck, Montgomery Place apples, cheeses from Sprout Creek, vegetables from the estate’s own kitchen garden. Guests take breakfast here each morning — eggs from the henhouse, bread from the wood oven, fruit from the orchard.

The Bar

The Cellar Bar

Below the house, in the 1789 fieldstone cellar — estate cider, Hudson Valley rye, and forty allotments of Finger Lakes & Hudson wine.

Stone walls, low light, a fire when it’s cold. The list leans local: small-batch ciders pressed from estate apples, rye and bourbon from valley distilleries, and a wine program that goes deep on the Hudson and the Finger Lakes. A short menu of bar snacks runs until close — oysters, a board, the kitchen’s famous duck-fat fries.

The Farm Breakfast

Breakfast is included with every room, served in Butterfield or brought to your porch — eggs from the henhouse, bread from the wood oven.

A proper country breakfast, made each morning: soft-scrambled eggs, thick-cut bacon from a Dutchess County farm, fruit from the orchard, granola and yogurt, and bread baked in the wood oven the night before. Coffee is from a small Hudson roaster. Take it in Butterfield by the window, in the garden, or on your own porch — just ask the night before.
