Before You Stay

The practical things

Check-in is from 3pm, check-out by 11am, and breakfast for two is on us. The rest — cancellation, dogs, parking, accessibility — is below. Anything else, the front desk is staffed around the clock.

Check-in is from 3:00 PM and check-out is by 11:00 AM. The front desk is staffed twenty-four hours, so a late arrival is no trouble — tell us your train or your road and we’ll be ready. Early check-in and late check-out are offered when the day’s schedule allows; just ask.
For our flexible rate, cancel more than 14 days before arrival for a full refund of your deposit; within 14 days, the deposit is retained. Non-refundable rates are charged in full at booking and cannot be changed or cancelled. A 50% deposit is taken at the time of reservation on flexible rates.
Yes. A made-to-order farm breakfast is included with every room, every morning, served 7–10am in Butterfield — or brought to your porch or room if you tell us the night before. Eggs from the henhouse, bread from the wood oven, fruit from the orchard.
Dogs are welcome in select rooms — the Carriage House Suite and the Gatehouse Cottage — by advance request. There is a $50 per-night cleaning fee per dog, and dogs may not be left unattended in rooms. The fourteen acres are very much theirs to enjoy.
Parking is complimentary on-site, with valet on arrival. We’re about an hour and forty minutes north of Manhattan by car. By train, take Amtrak or Metro-North to Rhinecliff (six minutes away) — tell us your arrival and we’ll meet you at the station at no charge.
A two-night minimum applies on weekends and during peak periods (October foliage, summer, and holidays). The Gatehouse Cottage carries a two-night minimum year-round. Midweek single nights are usually available — the booking bar will show you what’s open.
Families are warmly welcome; the pool, the grounds, and the orchard are a joy for children. We ask that guests under 15 be accompanied by an adult, and that the Cellar Bar and the chef’s table remain adult evenings. The Gatehouse Cottage and Carriage Suite are best suited to couples.
Yes. The Orchard Room on the ground floor is ADA-accessible, with a roll-in shower, level entry, and direct porch access, and Butterfield and the gardens are step-free. As a 1789 landmark, some upper floors are reached only by stair; please call and we’ll match you to the right room and route.
A 50% deposit is taken at booking on flexible rates, with the balance due at check-out; non-refundable rates are charged in full at booking. An incidental hold of about $200 per night is placed at check-in and released at departure. We accept all major cards.
Still have a question? Call the front desk at (845) 555-0174 or email stay@marlowehouse.example — we answer around the clock. Ready to come up the river? Reserve a stay.
