On the ground floor at the orchard end of the house, this king room opens through French doors to a private stretch of the wraparound porch — rocking chairs, the apple trees just there, and breakfast brought out to you if you’d rather not come in. The most-asked-for room in the house, and the easiest to never leave.

Check-in is from 3:00 PM and check-out is by 11:00 AM. The front desk is staffed twenty-four hours, so a late arrival is no trouble — tell us your train or your road and we’ll be ready. Early check-in and late check-out are offered when the day’s schedule allows; just ask.
Yes. A made-to-order farm breakfast is included with every room, every morning, served 7–10am in Butterfield — or brought to your porch or room if you tell us the night before. Eggs from the henhouse, bread from the wood oven, fruit from the orchard.
Yes. The Orchard Room on the ground floor is ADA-accessible, with a roll-in shower, level entry, and direct porch access, and Butterfield and the gardens are step-free. As a 1789 landmark, some upper floors are reached only by stair; please call and we’ll match you to the right room and route.
